Tracey Bregman has portrayed Lauren Fenmore on The young and the restless – and later The bold and the beautiful – Since 1983, but the character, now a fan favorite, was not always loved.
Bregman, 62, opened for the backlash she received for the actions of her character on the show on Tuesday’s episode, August 26, of CBS’s “SoapPodcast.
“Having to be meant What MaitlandI mean, come on, ”he said.
Bregman and Maitland, 67, play the role of Traci Abbott, are close friends, which made it difficult to bully early in the story line of both characters.
“And I knew, because we were so close, how she really felt for many things,” continued Bregman. “And it was a story that was a kind of basis for her to be a little too heavy and be aware of that. And then, I had to tell her the worst things, and what will tell you that I had more crying than it did for it because I could hardly find it out sometimes.”
There was a lot of bullying bullying around an overweight track – something that the audience was not happy to see Bregman ridiculing.
“But I will tell you, it was a double -edged sword, playing the mean girl, because I would get death threats and people tried to run me off the motorway. It was bad,” he continued. “There were some bad parts of it that I never talked about, really. I’ve never talked about it.”
But Bregman also raised the “fun times” that they both together were on a set, which, ironically, included when their characters went into physical battle. All in all, she didn’t complain. As she said, “It was also a wonderful story for us to play as actors.”
More than that, Bregman husband on screen, Christian leblancwho portrays Michael Baldwin, she added that “vulnerability and humanity are needed under the mean thing for playing the villain,” Bregman’s internal battle over her character probably helped the character.
Leblanc, 67, added that he is often asked if he would rather play “good guy” or “bad guy,” and his answer is not.
“My answer is always, ‘I would like to play a human person,’ because there is always the one who does the bad things for good reason, and the good things for a bad reason,” he said. “That’s the heart of it. And if you play that full body human being, there’s a chance to be redeemed, because that’s part of the human condition.”
