X brings tougher rules around parody accounts.
On April 10, accounts that present themselves to another user or person must use keywords such as “fake” or “parody” at the beginning of the names of accounts.
The platform will also require parody accounts for use of different images to the X account belonging to those they seek to submit.
Some users complained about the confusion caused by the parody of the platform, such as those who pretend to be its owner Elon Musk.
“These changes are designed to help users better understand the repeated nature of PCF accounts and reduce the risk of confusion or deduction,” the company – said in a Saturday message.
He urged the accounts for the records to update his profiles by date of execution.
Changes will also be applied to the accounts of phonats and comments, the report said.
“Hopefully, this includes all the thousands of fake variations of Elon Musk accounting,” one user wrote in response to the X Policy update.
“I get Elon’s fake account about the time, addressing me almost once a week,” the other writes.
There are a number of parody accounts for the platform owner, which refer to the incarnations in different ways.
The messages viewed by the BBC from Elon Musk Parody Accounts ranged from memes and jokes, to the promotion of cryptocurrency and gifts by car.
In a recent message, One Elon Musk Parody, which has more than a million followers, ordered users “like and comment” to win Tesla.
The message received 428,000 likes and more than 200,000 answers.
X in January rolled out labels for parody accounts its rules that require Users involved in the publishing for entertainment to identify themselves as such.
They and the mites checking the platform were given as tools to prevent the introduction of attention, allowing a speech and discussion.
But the effectiveness of such measures was disputed.
In July 2024, the EU stated that blue mites violated its content on the Internet and its “proven” blue ticks accounts Having the potential for “cheat” users.
In response, Musk called the EU rules “misinformation”.
Following his absorption in November 2022, said Tesla leader Accounts involved in the fragile publication would be banned.
Many parody accounts on the X identify their parody in brackets at the end of the names of users, but this is not a stupid measure.
If the name of the parody account is especially long, and only the shortened version appears in the channels or answers, users can unwittingly cheat – especially if the account image corresponds to the real person.
