The long awaited Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is all set to set the stage for some exciting women’s cricket entertainment, starting February 14. The opening match will feature a highly successful encounter between Gujarat Giants (GT) and the defenders, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)at the newly built BCA Stadium in Vadodara.
This state-of-the-art venue is the first of many key venues that will host matches throughout the tournament. The WPL 2025 promises to be a vibrant display of cricketing excellence, with six exciting games set to take place in Vadodara. After that, the tournament will move to Bengaluru where eight crucial matches will be played. The action then moves to Lucknow, which will host four matches before the competition kicks off for the final leg in Mumbai. Mumbai, known for its fervent cricket atmosphere, will play a major role in the conclusion of the tournament. The CCI Stadium will host four high-stakes matches, including the Eliminator on March 13 and the Grand Final on March 15. This stage promises to deliver exciting encounters and provide fans with a fitting climax to an exciting season.
As the teams prepare for the WPL 2025, cricket pundits and pundits have begun to weigh in on who could emerge as the favourites. Former India international Veda Krishnamurthy he has placed his bets Delhi Capitals (DC) to win the tournament, citing the impressive form of its Indian players, both on the domestic and international circuits.
“Looking at the teams, I really like Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi, but there seem to be injury concerns for RCB. So they have to figure it out. I think this year could be Delhi’s year, with the way how their Indian players are performing, especially with a good domestic and international performance.” Veda was quoted by Sportskeeda.
On the other hand, Parthiv Patelin the same program, believes RCB, after winning their first trophy in 2024, they were able to retain their title again, despite the challenge of consecutive wins.
“It is very difficult to win the title in two consecutive years. However, early predictions will need to be made. I think RCB will perform well this year and could win the tournament again this year.” Parthiv opined.
