Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins becomes a family of seven, announcing on Tuesday, August 26, that she was pregnant.
The couple shared through Instagram that they expected their fifth baby. In a video, Akins, 35, stood by the side of Rett, also 35, as he sang it 2017 hit “life changes” For Fatherhood.
“Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad. A big wrench was thrown in the plans we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing – had one on the way. That’s -” Rett briefly stopped stopping his guitar as Akins caught five fingers out, “Five under 10. Hey what I can say.
Akins caught Sonogram to the camera as she started laughing while looking at Akins. “Here we go again!” The pair was headed by post. “We have a very exciting big sisters in our house. God is so good.”
Rhett and Akins, who are high school loversHe became parents when they adopted Willa’s daughter from Uganda in May 2017.
“I called Thomas one of the first nights I met her in Uganda and told her,” said Akins alone Weekly US in 2019. “Not hesitating, she said, ‘Bring her home. She’s ours. We’re going to make this happen.'”

When asked if he and Akins wanted to expand their family, Rhett split in his 2024 Us A cover story that the pair are “both very happy with four.”
“Lillie is a starting school, so we’ve been like Giddy’s toddlers saying, ‘What are we going to do with eight hours a day, three days a week?'” He said at the time. “But it wouldn’t be shocking if a fifth (had come over) in the next three or four years.”
Reflecting on being a parent, Rhett shared that he wished he could tell him previous self on the first day of being a father to “cherish.”
“It’s easy to want the hard years off. (Lauren) calls them ‘drying years’ – drying tears, drying floors, drying barrels, all. I’ve been a dad long enough to know how fast he’s going,” he said. “One day my problems with my children will be much different than not wanting to eat broccoli. I learn how to live in these moments.”
