Why was Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six movie

Just over a decade ago, Sony Pictures grew the “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise to the entire cinematic universe. Starting in 2012 with the restart of Marc Webb, who starred Andrew Garfield, the Academy Award nominator, as the title Webhead, the studio had ambitious expansion plans with the forthcoming progression as well as a massacre of spinoff films being developed. Although “The Amazing Spider-Man” did not receive the most enthusiastic reception from critics and fans compared to Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire’s “Spider-Man” a decade earlier, people were still interested in seeing what Webb and Garfield had in the pipeline for the sequel. It offered this new restart to distinguish itself without having to follow the story of its well -established origin.

Unfortunately, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” was a general disappointment. The film received mixed reviews, which were criticized for its messy and script tone that looked at studio intervention. To be fair, the first “Spider-Man” also had a script that felt like a product of studio notes, but the cast performances, especially the chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, helped him stand out despite the medieval script. In terms of the sequel, a few great crafted action sequences and a powerful emotional highlight could save a film with such a weak script and ridiculous evil antagonists like Electro Jamie Foxx (who sometimes felt like Riddler’s second arrival of Jim Carrey of “Batman Forever”).

It did not help that this sequence was supposed to be the launch pad for what was going to be a larger franchise with spinoffs – including a “Sinister Six” film that was going to be written and directed by Director of “Cabin in the Woods” Drew Goddard.

One of the numerous weaknesses of the “Amazing Spider-Man” films was their headache to tease future sequences and spinoffs with little refund. Much of the mystery built in both films considered what happened to Peter Parker’s parents, Would have led to a scene that has now been deleted from “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” featuring Peter’s Baffling Return. The sequel also set up new villains for future films – in particular, The Sinister Six. The film ended with Harry Osborn/Green Goblin (Dane Dehaan) recovering at Ravencroft prison, as he and his companion Gustav Fiers (Michael Massee) discuss their plans for a new team to face against Spider-Man.

Gustav Fiers is seen in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” walking through a hallway of glass cases that include accoutrements such as dock tentacles Ock and wings of the vulture. Based on these disclosures, it is clear that those two villains would have been part of the six sinister, which was likely to be led by the green goblin. For three other members of the team, the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) might have made the team. And, based on Sony’s ultimate plans for these characters years down the line, Mysterio, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter could have participated too.

Drew Goddard wrote the script for the proposed film “Sinister Six”, and although he has not yet seen the light of day, Its intention for the project was that it would incur annual Summer Marvel Comics. While his script was initially written for “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise, the enthusiasm of producer Amy Pascal over IT meant he could have survived another restart. Pascal expressed hope before That Goddard would return to bring the project back to life, possibly as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe of films such as “Venom” and “Madame Web.” Eventually, “Sinister Six” was never produced because Sony’s new deal with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man to the MCU completed in 2015, putting an end to the “Amazing Spider-Man” franchise “

To this day, we have not yet seen a proper iteration of the Sinister Six in any “Spider-Man” film. The closest thing we became “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” assembled Dr. Otto Octavius/DOC Ock (Alfred Molina), Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Flint Marko/Sandman (Thomas Haden Church), Max Dillon/Electro), and Fo Curx). Obviously, that’s only five villains, but it has six technical: Eddie Brock/Venom (Tom Hardy) can be found in the middle credits sequence of the film, only to be sent back to his proper universe. It’s strange to revisit Sony’s “Spider-Man” deology. Although the films fail to reach their ambitions, there are clearly a few pieces in the puzzle that were worth keeping. Time has been particularly kind to Andrew Garfield, who has proven himself as the best actor to ever play Spider-Man. Although his films had defective scripts, Garfield’s commitment to the character was undoubtedly clear, and his passion for the role continues to this day. While most fans are more than happy to leave the “Amazing Spider-Man” films left in favor of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland like Peter Parker, a new affection for Garfield had repeated by the time he returned in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” Garfield’s performance specifically received global praise from judges and supporters alike, serving as a well-deserved redemption after the disappointing collection of his series.

Although Garfield has kept busy following new projects, he has expressed an interest in returning as Spider-Man again. Obviously, his experience helped “Spider-Man: No Way Home” to improve a few old wounds from the disappointing collection of his film series. Prior to his initial departure from the franchise, Garfield had meetings with Drew Goddard for “Sinister Six,” and based on what he heard, he was beaming with excitement about what Goddard had planned.
