Why Crawford’s “best” won’t be enough against Canelo

Terence Crawford posted the obligatory “I’m going to shock the world” message today to X about his fight against unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez at a yet-to-be-announced date in September.

Shock the world? Doubtful

Chances are you’ll be very happy for that payday. Without that gift fight Turki Al-Sheikh gave him, Crawford would slip away at 154, having to fight actual sharks like Bakhram Murtazaliev, Serhii Bohachuk, Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Sebastian Fundora.

This isn’t a car-crash, rusty, sluggish Errol Spence that Crawford is fighting. Canelo is still an active and very dangerous fighter. Canelo is like an M93 Hornet land mine and he will explode on the Nebraska native if he has any idea.
