NBA players have had success before Dancing with the starsbut Baron Davis Admits that he is concerned about joining the cast for season 34.
“(I) was a little hesitant,” Davis, 46, told Weekly US only. “You go back and forth, and you’re like, you know, if you do this, you’re all in, and you’re dancing in front of people, lots of people on television.”
But once he made the decision, the two-time all-star point guard moved to preparation mode, putting his “anxiety and nervousness” aside.
“I get that as an athlete, before games, before practice, and that just means that I, like, prepare myself for something,” he said.
Season 34 from Dancing with the Stars shapes to be the best yet. Davis, who last played in the NBA for the New York Knicks in 2012 partner with Britt StewartWho makes his sixth appearance on the series like pro. Most recently partnered with Eric Roberts for season 33 and the duo 10th. Her best finish came during season 31 alongside her prospective husband, Daniel duringwhen they set fifth.
“She is, like, dear, she is sweet,” said Davis. “She’s just married. She shares her story. And I’m just like, ‘Okay, like, right, a coach, whatever you want me to do, everything is fine, partner, whatever you want.’ She is the largest. ”(Stewart and Durant, 35, tied the knot in August after nearly three years together.)
The feeling is mutual. Stewart, 35, has previously partnered with athletes, previously joining a figure skater Johnny weir and before NFL runs back Adrian Peterson. Her first impression of Davis was that he was “perfectly valid.”
“I saw who the Baron was as soon as he walked through the door,” he said. “And I’m really goods with that, because that’s how I like to get on with life. And then get to know them, I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s lovely, like it’s lively and friendly, and his energy is contagious.’” ”
