A famous American football player, a young aspiring nurse and the mother of a four-year-old child are among the victims of the New Orleans New Year’s Eve attack that killed at least 15 people.
Their names are being released by families and relatives before authorities complete a post-mortem examination.
Here’s what we know at the moment.
Martin “Tiger” Bech is a former Princeton University football player.
His death was confirmed in a statement from the university.
“There could not be a more appropriate nickname for a Princeton player that I have coached,” Princeton football coach Bob Souras said in a statement.
“He was a ‘Tiger’ in every way – a fierce competitor with endless energy, a beloved teammate and a caring friend.”
Martin Bech’s brother, Jack Bech, posted a tribute to X along with an article about his death.
“Love you always, brother!” he wrote. “You inspired me every day, now you can be with me every minute. I’ve got that family T, don’t worry. This is for us.”
Mr. Beh was a member of the 2016 and 2018 Ivy League championship teams.
The 18-year-old girl was a novice nurse.
Her death was confirmed by her mother Melissa Dedo on social media.
“I lost my baby, just pray for me and my family please! God, I need you now!!” the mother pleaded, along with a photo of her daughter in this year’s red graduation cap and gown.
Ms Dedo, who is also a nurse, told local media in Nola that her daughter was due to start her nursing studies at the end of this month.
She added that Nikira got out with a cousin and a friend, who both survived.
The death of the store manager and father of two children was confirmed to the American partner of BBC News CBS News by his cousin Shirel Robinson Jackson.
Ms Jackson described him as “full of life” and said the 37-year-old texted the family minutes after midnight to wish them a happy birthday.
He was with another cousin who was injured in the attack.
Kimberly Asher Fall, Ms. Perez’s friend and boss at the deli where she worked, described her as selfless, intelligent and “a good person,” CBS reported.
The 27-year-old woman was also the mother of a four-year-old boy.
The 25-year-old audio-visual technician had a “laid-back spirit and infectious laugh” that brought joy to those around him, according to a fundraiser his family organized in his name.
His mother, Cathy Tenedario, told NBC News that she last saw her son alive at 9:00 p.m. local time on New Year’s Eve, adding that she remembers hugging and kissing him.
