During appearance in 2016 on ConceiveCarell revealed how close he came to lose his innovative role in The 40 -year -old maiden. As he remembered, the studio closed a week to film due to concerns about Carell’s performance.
“They said, ‘We’ve been watching the film and you look like a serial murderer,” he remembered. “I was bored out. I thought, ‘That’s it.’”
Fortunately, Apatow convinced a studio executive to give Carell another chance, and together they made a classical comedy.
