After a so-called “Pobre” campaign 2024-25, Erling Haaland looked at her best clinician during Manchester City’s 3-0 Derby Victory on Manchester United.
While 22 goals last season are almost bad, Haaland struggled to have the same impact as the first two seasons in the Premier League, especially compared to the 2022-23 campaign, where he scored 52 goals in all competitions when City won.
The Norwegian would lose their key possibilities in the great times, which finally contributed to the city that ended well below the expectations in third place.
But against United, he looked at his best ruthless, removing the city out of his rivals in the second half with two ordered finishes.
The first was a fresh chip on the goalkeeper of the United Altay Bayindir, before he had a charge to go home marked to complete the victory 3-0 and bring his account this season to five goals in four games.
Manager Pep Guardiola said, “Erling has been incredible from the beginning, but this season is better than ever. I would say better than the year.
“He is dynamic and I do not judge him by authorizations, we want him to set goals and help us.”
It is only the fourth season of Haaland in the Premier League, but it seems that it will be the one that joins the 100 club, for the players who have scored 100 goals or more in the competition.
After Derby Double, Haaraland’s Tally is now 90 goals, that is, it only needs 10 more goals to join this exclusive club, which currently has 34 members.
The rhythm at which Norwegian Hitman is accumulating the numbers is impressive, as he has played only 101 games in the competition. He has 22 more games to score these 10 goals to become the fastest player to win the 100 goals in the competition.
In context, Talisman Mohamed Salah in Liverpool played 162 games to get this feat, with the second -half scorer, Harry Kane, who needed 144. Record scorer Alan Shearer did so in 124.
If Haaland signed a huge contract with City last season, which does not expire until 2034, it only looks like a matter of time before the striker exceeds the 260 -goals of the Premier League.
He has 90 goals in 101 Premier League games, a rate of 0.89 goals per game. Continue this rhythm and Haaland will eclipse Shearer in 191 games, which is about five seasons.
In total, this would mean that he could break the record in eight seasons: an impressive difference with the 14 Shearer took it to reach his account.
It seems that the only one who could prevent the 25 -year -old record for the record is if he leaves the Premier League for new pastures, with a rest clause in 2029 in his contract and the Giants of LaLiga Real Madrid were often traded as a long -term destination.
