Where in 30 years gigantic statues Michael Jackson?

In June 1995, the giant statue of Michael Jackson created a surreal spectacle in the heart of London when she was floating on the barge on the Thaza River.

This 32 -Pop (10 m) Pop -Kolas was just one of 10, which appeared worldwide to promote the history of Superstar albums: past, present and future, book I.

Then the fiberglass titans followed Jackson in their global round.

Thirty years later – and 16 years after his death – King Pop -plying disputes, but some statues still call the call in the unexpected corners of the world.

Jackson’s double album was a combination of his greatest hits along with 15 new tracks, including “Earth Song”, which would spend six weeks at the top of the UK.

In America, sculptor Diana Valchak consulted with pop star to create a clay sculpture that was digitized on the album cover.

The performer, founded in Hartfordshire Stephen Pale, who created the Phantom of the Opera performances, asked an employee Sony called Robbie Williams (not that) to make 10 huge statues based on this album.

He hired the sculptor Derek Hoart to produce polystyrene statues, which g -s used to make mold and fiberglass roles.

Everything was assembled in the Chris and Clark’s workshop in Elstra studios in Hartfordshire, where they were painted to look like a stone.

The team worked without access to the prototype of Ms. Valchak, which led to what they looked a little different.

Mr Pale says: “Creating 10 statues for four months was quite difficult, but thanks to Derek, Chris, Liz and the rest of my team workshop at the time we became a completely effective factory for Michael Jackson!”

The fate of some statues are uncertain, and they may have been closed in storage or destroyed. But others remained at the exhibition in some unlikely places.

For many years, King Pop -Monument rose above McDonald’s car park in the village is the best in the Netherlands.

Restaurant owner Peter van Gelder bought statues in Sony at the 1996 charity for Ronald McDonald’s children’s fund.

“The restaurant has just opened and had no big yellow,” he says. “It was my intention to put it as an eye.”

Jackson’s fans began to flock into place, photographing and playing his music. The crowds became so frequent that Peter had to enclose statues to stop the people who rise to her.

Every year on Jackson’s birthday, and on the day he died, it became a shrine, and fans were going to play music, hang photos and leave flowers.

Things changed in 2019 after HBO left the Neverland documentary, aligned new allegations of sexual abuse against Jackson.

“There was no such strong reaction in the Netherlands, and my intention was just leaving the statue there,” Peter explained.

But he said the pressure from the fast food headquarters in the US led to its removal and storage in a “secret place”.

McDonald’s tells the BBC: “In 2019, after the documentary, it was decided to remove the statue.

“We felt and felt that it was important for all guests to feel comfortable when visiting one of our restaurants.”

Peter hopes to donate a fan -buzz statue, but a construction permit is required. “Many have turned to me, but no one has yet been able to get permission,” he says.

“The years passed after his death, and I noticed that the interest in the statue is decreasing … Therefore, Michael Jackson’s statue lies on vacation under the tarpaulin in a minor barn.”

The yard of an abandoned club in a small town of 18 km (30 km) west of Vienna is not the place you expect to find the elevating stuffed king of the pop.

The owner of Franz Joseph Zic won the statue in 1998 on a radio auction to help the red cross and spent 150,000 Austrian shillings (9,300 pounds).

He recalls: “There was a big problem when I went home and had to say an uncle who was a family boss, and said,” You’re crazy! “

Visitors to the child in Judenau-Baumarten may have been surprised by finding Michael Jackson in the smoking area, but Franz saw it as a great way to promote his club.

“There were also a lot of bars near the statue, so there was a party around Jackson,” he says.

Last year, the club was forced to close after a new residential building was built nearby.

Now Franz wants to find anyone to open a small cafe or pizzeria in place, but first you need to get rid of pop -mono.

He said: “I tried to sell it two years. I would be happy if I get 25,000 euros (21,000 pounds) for it.

“I had some interest from Sweden, and some in Hungary, but the problem is that people lack money.”

What if he can’t find the buyer? “We don’t know. Maybe I’ll send it to Mars. Elon will do it for me!” He laughs.

For over 50 years, the Fairground annual event called Luna Park has been held in Switzerland in Lausanne.

It is among these flickering lights and brightly colored attractions can be found another Jackson’s statue.

It was given a slight recovery, with gold paint added to it artificial military uniform.

The organizers say the BBC that they bought it in 2008 from a man who bought it in Sony years earlier.

The statue is not displayed for several years, but they do not say why – but they emphasize that it is not for sale.

When Jackson brought his story to South Africa, he had one of 10 statues.

Santarama Miniland, which opened in Johannesburg in the 1970s to demonstrate the country in miniature now abandoned.

The attractions were removed, and the miniature train ceases to pass, but the repainted MJ Monolith is still standing, visible on Google Earth satellite images.

Blogger Hiser Mason with 2summers.net visited the park in 2013.

She recalls: “It was pretty strange to see the giant blue statuette Michael Jackson in the middle of Minleland, where the common topic is what things were smaller than life, no more than life.

“But I certainly appreciated it! The MJ statue was the best photo in the park.”

A fresh layer of paint and a new pair of sunglasses did not make this fiberglass figure too unrecognizable.

In June 2019, the Europark Idroscalo Milano presented a “restored” statue after the Jackson Flame Mob.

The announcer said the assembled crowd: “This statue is devoted to all of you who continue to love it for years.”

The dramatic opening took place a few months after leaving the Neverland documentary.

The park spokesman reports the BBC that the statue was purchased at the end of the round but remained abandoned for years before ending in the park.

They said that Titan was covered for a while after allegations of cruelty of the children because the park owners at the time “did not want to show that MJ welcomed the children in the park, so he was practically in the robot.”

Despite the work on the recovery and repainment of the statue, the park owners put up a repaired statue for sale.
