EpaOn Thursday, the White House announced that US President Donald Trump was in a medical condition in his veins called chronic venous insufficiency.
During a regular briefing, spokesman Carolina Levit showed that Trump, 79, noticed swelling in his legs, which caused a check with his doctor who made him a diagnosis with this condition.
Trump was also recently photographed with makeup at the back of the hand. The White House said it was not related to the state of the vein, but instead it is a bruise as a result of frequent handshakes.
Here are some key things you need to know about the US president’s diagnosis.
Trump’s condition is “benign and common”, especially in persons older than 70 years, according to a record of the White House, Captain Son Barbabel, released by the journalist.
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when the veins of the legs do not allow the blood to enter the heart, resulting in it united on the lower extremities.
Normal feet bleeding, which is supported to the heart, moves against gravity, which in the elderly can become a complex process.
This may be due to the weakening of the valves in the veins, which can happen with age.
ReutersIf the blood in the legs is due to chronic venous insufficiency, it can cause swelling as a species observed on Trump’s ankles in the latest photos.
“It may be due to serious conditions, but it is not a serious condition in itself, and it is very common,” said Dr. Matthew Edwards, chairman of the Vaike Forest University University.
“People at his age (group), I would say probably somewhere from 10 to 35% of people it would be.”
Experts say other risks include overweight, the presence of blood clots and jobs that require patients to be on their feet over a long time.
Noticing the swelling in the legs, President Trump was evaluated by the White House medical unit “with great caution”, – said Dr. Son Barbabel, doctor Trump.
D -R -Barbabel wrote that President Trump had undergone a “comprehensive review”, which revealed chronic venous insufficiency, which, he said, is “benign and common state”.
“It is important to note that there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood disease,” he added.
The tests also showed “normal cardiac structure and function,” D -Barbabel said, adding: “No signs of heart failure, kidney disorders or systemic disease were detected.”
Dr. Barbabel also noted the bruises on the back of Trump, which was seen in the latest photos, sometimes covered with makeup.
“This corresponds to the slight irritation of the soft tissues with a frequent handshake and the use of aspirin, which is perceived as part of the standard cardiovascular prevention scheme,” he said.
The memory ended, saying that President Trump “remains in great health.”
ReutersThe American Society of Vascular Surgery said the condition could cause a severity in the affected limb as well as swelling and pain.
In some cases, chronic venous insufficiency can also cause painful seizures, spasms and leg ulcers.
Custom -wearing, compression stockings for medical class compression can help manage the condition, and experts also recommend patients who raise their legs at night and use lotion.
In April, Trump passed his first annual physical term of his second presidential term.
“President Trump remains in great health, demonstrating a reliable heart, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function” D -rs Barbabel said at the time in the note.
This health assessment has shown that the president is taking several medicines to control his cholesterol – Rosuvastatin and Ezetimib, as well as aspirin for the prevention of cardiac and mammatazon for skin condition.
The US president regularly promoted his good health and once called himself “a healthy president who lived.”
After the first annual physical physical, Trump told reporters that “I felt in general, that I was in a very good shape,” and added that he believed that he had “a good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.”
