“We deserve more” after the 13th Defeat of the Manchester United season against the forest

Manchester United’s head, Ruben Amorim, believes that his side deserved his 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, but admitted his own inefficiency in the attack cost the game.

The Red Devils suffered their 13th defeat of the season courtesy of the solo effort of former player Anthony Elanga, but they were unfortunate of not taking something the game after approaching several possibilities.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Amorim reflected on a frustrating evening for the United States, who dominated possession and created possibilities, but did not find a breakthrough.

The Portuguese manager said, “We have controlled the game, but we already knew that this team cannot score goals. When they scored, we changed the game a bit for what they want.

“We tried with good opportunities, but in the last third, the last pass, the last attendance was not. Then, if we do not have it, we cannot score goals.”

Amorim: “We have to be better in the final third”

It was a family story for United this season, according to Amorim, with his side struggling to turn dominion into goals.

“This season is like that,” he said. “We had a lot of shots on the goal, we pushed the opponent to the last third, but in the last third we had a lack of quality.

“We have to win games and we deserve more in this game, of course, but it is our fault and we must be better in the last third. We must have won this game, not even drawn, but in the end we lost three points.”

More counterattack problems

The vulnerability of the United States to the counterattacks was exposed again, as Forest made the most of its limited opportunities.

Amorim added: “We know the characters of the team and a goal can put them in a situation they like. We have to score two goals to win a game, and this is frustrating because it was the beginning of the game. We helped them win three points.”

Despite disappointment, Amorim insists that he sees progress and remains focused on the next challenges for both the Premier League and Europe League.

“I see it in the game. I do not lie to myself; everyone can say whatever they mean, but we have to win games. We go to the next game. We have Europa League and we have the next game in the Premier League, and that is the focus.”
