US officials additionally restricted visas for visitors for Palestinians, denying them almost all applicants who use the Palestinian passport, the media reported.
Development comes a few days after 80 Palestinian officials denied visas ahead of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Earlier in August, visas for visitors stopped at people who hoped to travel from the Palestinian Gaza States. This recently reported decree will affect a wider group, including people living on the West Bank of the Israeli western shore.
The State Department did not confirm this step, but stated that “took concrete steps in accordance with the US law and our national security.”
The decision was made in the diplomatic cables of August 18, reports The New York Times and CNN.
US consular officers were ordered to abandon non -immigrant visas in “otherwise owners of the Palestinian Passport,” communication quotes.
This will extend to the Palestinians who hope to come to the US for various purposes, including for business, training or medical treatment.
This step meant that the officials would need to conduct a further inspection of each applicant who had been banned from the Palestinian visas, The New York Times added in her report.
They said Palestinians who were able to make visa applications using other passports are not affected.
It is unclear that it pushed the report on the step, although the Trump administration was stable in supporting Israel’s military campaign against Hamas into Gaza.
This news also follows from the announcements last month by a number of other US allies – including the UK, Canada and France – that they recognize the Palestinian state under certain conditions. US Vice President JD Vance said Washington has no “plans” to follow the example.
The Trump administration was also angry with pro -Plestine protests on campus.
This step is a further strengthening of the president’s position on visas after the previous two measures.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was a group of dozens of Palestinian officials who recently blocked to attend the UN General Assembly session in New York at the end of this month, after US officials withdraw a visa and accused Palestinian authorities and Palestinian Efforts.
And on August 16, the State Department stated that he had specifically ceased visas for visitors for Palestinians from Gaza to have a review.
Hamas, which is prescribed as a result of a terrorist group, ruled Gaza when, on October 7, 2023, hundreds of his armed fighters attacked Israel, killed about 1,200 people and took away 251 hostages. According to the Ministry of Health, Hamas, which killed a massive and permanent Israeli military offensive, which killed at least 63 459 Palestinians.
American visa policy is effectively expanded to include people from the western shore and a wider Palestinian diaspora.
Asked about the last step, in a statement from the state representative of the Ministry: “The Trump administration takes concrete steps in accordance with the US and our national security legislation regarding the announced visa restrictions and recalls for the (Palestinian Office) of the passport owners.
“Each visa decision is a national security decision, and the State Department check and decisions visa decisions for passport owners accordingly.”
