In the 30th match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 14 between Sydney Sixers i Perth Scorchersheld at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the star batsman of the Sydney Sixers Steve Smith delivered one of the most memorable moments of the match with an extraordinary shot that left the fans in awe.
The action took place during the 15th innings of the Sydney Sixers when Andrew Tye of Perth Scorchers was bowling. Tye bowled an over-tossed ball outside the off-stump, and Smith, with impeccable timing and finesse, opened his bat face at the last moment, guiding the ball expertly over deep backward point for to a magnificent six of 74 meters. It was a truly remarkable shot, a shot that looked deceptively easy, but was in fact a very difficult shot to pull off. The crowd erupted as Smith showed his class and control, producing a shot that perfectly encapsulated his brilliance as a batsman.

In the Sixers’ innings, Smith’s batting was nothing short of amazing. The opener showed his exceptional skill and composure as he scored an impressive 121 off just 64 balls. His knock included 10 fours and seven sixes, hitting the ball at an impressive strike rate of 189.06. Smith’s powerful hitting and consistent strokeplay set the tone for the match, and he remained unbeaten, guiding his team to a dominant total. This century was Smith’s third in the Big Bash League, making him the joint record for most centuries in the tournament’s history, tied with Ben McDermott.
Sydney Sixers, who were asked to bat first, posted an impressive total of 220/3 in their allotted 20 overs.
