West Indies Pacer Oshane Thomas experienced a strange outing during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 match between Tigers of Khulna i Kings of Chittagong at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Representing the Tigers, Thomas was tasked with defending a daunting total of 204 runs. Opening the bowling, he endured an extraordinary 12 ball which became the highlight of the match due to its sheer unpredictability and unusual length.
Thomas’ first ball set the tone for the chaos that ensued. Delivered as a no-ball, it was followed by a free kick that Naeem Islam dispatched for a massive six, instantly adding 7 runs to the score. However, the drama didn’t stop there. Another no-ball compounded the misery, this time hit for a boundary by Islam, taking the total from that one legal delivery to a staggering 15 runs. This sequence marked one of the few instances where a bowler conceded such a large number of runs from a single legal ball.

Thomas’ inability to find his rhythm continued as he progressed. He bowled two wides and three extra no-balls, further inflating the Kings score and frustrating his team. Despite his raw pace, his lack of control allowed the opposition to capitalize on free-kicks and extra deliveries. By the time Thomas managed to throw two legal dot balls, the envelope had already gotten out of hand, leaving the Tigers under pressure.
Amidst the carnage, Thomas managed to find a silver lining. In the fifth legal delivery of the over, after a series of extras, he induced a lead from Islam, resulting in a crucial dismissal. The wicket brought some relief to the Tigers camp, but the damage had already been done. By the end of the over, Thomas had thrown 12 pitches, giving up 18 runs, with 15 of those coming off the first legal ball alone.
Recognizing Thomas’ struggles, the Tigers skipper opted not to bring him back into the attack for the rest of the game. Despite their shaky performance, the Tigers cruised to a convincing 37-run victory, thanks to a strong batting display led by Guillem Bosisto i Mahidul Islam Ankonboth hit half centuries. The Kings’ late resurgence, fueled by Shamim Hossain‘s blistering 78 from 38 balls, eventually fell short.
