Former Pakistan Captain Wasim Akram faces legal problems after being accused of promoting an online sports gambling platform and games. According to a report to PTI, a formal complaint has been recorded in Lahore, and authorities initiated an investigation under the 2016 Electronic Crime Act.
A citizen of Lahore, Muhammad Faiz, has filed a complaint to the National Research Agency in Cyber Crime (NCCIA) against Wasim Akram. Faiz alleged that the former Pakistan’s former Bolera was linked to a foreign betting platform and urged authorities to take strict actions against him.

The complaint accused AKRAM of promoting the Baji International Gambling Platform. Above all, the complaints obtained traction after posters and video clips showing Akram that supported the application on social media.

“A poster that runs on social networks and a Wasim Akram video clips that approved the online platform, which has caused interest among general users of the application,” said the complainant.
The National Agency for Investigation in Cyber Crime (NCCIA) has confirmed the receipt of the complaint and said that the action will be shown if the charges were demonstrated. Akram has not published any official statement so far.
“We will measure against him if the complaints are considered to be true,” said an NCCIA official.
In the meantime, in a related development, the popular youtuber and Tiktoker Saad-Uhman (Ducky Bhai) were recently arrested for their participation in promoting the same betting application.

During the 1980’s and 1990’s, Wasim Akram repeatedly linked to matching scandals in national and international cricket.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) research found his participation, but abstained from imposing heavy sanctions due to his stature as a senior player and global star.
Akram is one of Pakistan’s biggest cricketers in the field. It represented the nation in 104 tests and 356 hatred, accumulating more than 6,500 runs and claiming 414 test doctors along with 502 Hate scalpies. He cemented his place among the fastest bowls in the game despite controversy.

It is worth noting that the promotion of betting or betting applications is strictly prohibited in Pakistan, where these actions are treated as a serious crime. Akram was recently covering a test between India and England during the Anderson-Tendulkar 2025 trophy.
