Former Indian Cricter Manoj Tiwary criticized the Mumbai Indians (MI) the Rohit Sharma Obrador for their inconsistent performances in the IPL. Tiwary wondered why the Mumbai Indians star has not had a great score season similar to that of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), whipped Kohli at the T20 Tournament.
Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, suffered their second consecutive defeat at the IPL 2025. They lost the game for 36 runs against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 29. Pursuing a challenging goal of 197, Rohit Sharma turned away before eight runs after being fired by Mohammed Siraj.
Manoj Tiwary expressed his disappointment by Rohit’s inconsistency in the IPL. Tiwary added that he should deliver larger seasons.
“Look, I tell you, I don’t want to be hard, but I have to be. For some players, you have to be. Look, the time has passed that Rohit Sharma turned between the runs. The capacity of a player like Rohit Sharma is not 400. Last season, he scored 400, it reached a century, but where is the 800-900 safety season?
Rohit did not have an impact on the first two games of the Mumbai Indians in the 2025 season. He was fired by a duck for opening against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The batter on his right hand has struggled to produce large runs on the IPL, exceeding 400 runs in a season only twice in the last eight editions.
Mumbai Indians have lost their playoffs in three of the last four seasons. The franchise has also treated the drama of the captaincy, as Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit as a Mumbai pattern before last season, a movement that caused widespread criticism and boos of fans through places, including their home ground in Mumbai.
The former Indian Opel, Virender Sehwag, also shared his thoughts on Rohit’s IPL performances. Sehwag became doubtful if the baptism of Mumbai Indians could still deliver a 600-700 season. He said that Rohit has never produced a great score in 18 years by Cricket IPL.
“What did Manoj Tiwary say about Rohit Sharma, where is this season? It’s not too late for this type of season (laughs)? We are also its fans, but we only wonder where the 600-700 season is. Sehwag asked.
Rohit Sharma is the third scorer in the history of the IPL with 6,636 runs in 259 games. However, it has had an average less than 30 with a strike rate of 131.09. He has managed to cross the 500 -run mark once and has never registered a 600 season.
After their defeat before Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians have dropped to the ninth place on the point table. The team aims to achieve their first IPL 2025 victory and to avoid a third consecutive loss when they are facing defending the Kolkata Knight Riders champions at the Wankhede Stadium on March 31.
