India’s star cricketer Virat Kohli has gone through many stages in his glorious career. It has gone through a no. ups and downs so far. But the current phase can be described as one of the most difficult and worst for him over the years.
Kohli is currently playing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 where he has looked woefully out of form except for a couple of innings. His poor form is a big concern for India and former cricketer Atul Wassan also thinks so.
When talking about Kohli’s retirement, Wassan feels that his run of bad form has gone on too long and the selectors and team management need to have a plan in place for the future.

While talking to ANI, Atul Wassan shed light on Kohli’s poor form and its effect on India’s results. The former India cricketer said that Kohli knows his form well but a player is always positive.
Wassan also claimed that Kohli’s form is hurting India’s chances of winning matches and there have been many questions about his position in the team.
“Virat (Kohli) has runs, but he also knows what’s going on. They’re very sorted mentally. A player always thinks ‘my best is around the corner’. I’ll do it right now.” It is such a long spell; it hurts the team, and there are questions, saying they have to drop you a lynch mob,” Wassan said.

Atul Wassan also feels that a succession plan needs to be in place for Virat Kohli to see India through the transition period without any problems. But for now, there is no clarity on this plan.
“They also know what’s going on. I think an exit plan, like a succession policy, needs to be clear, it’s not fair to the management, the team and the structure of cricket, we don’t know what’s on their mind “, he added. counted
Team India is going through a transition phase. Many of the team’s senior players are in their thirties and could receive a career call-up at any time. Recently, Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement after the third Test at the Gabba against Australia.
Meanwhile, the pressure is mounting on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to take a final call. Both the batsmen have been struggling for runs recently and their poor form has also cost India results.
Virat Kohli’s troubles outside the stumps do not want to end soon. The 36-year-old has been consistently troubled by fourth and fifth stump balls throughout this series and the bowlers didn’t have to do much to send him back to the pavilion.
Kohli has scored 167 runs in four Tests in the series so far at an average of 27.83. He scored 100* in the second innings at Perth and an eye-catching 36 in the first innings at MCG. Other than that, he has not been able to stay at the crease for long.
