India’s veteran batsman Virat Kohli is not having the best of times as an international cricketer. The 36-year-old has struggled in the last few games he has played with his technique everywhere.
However, Kohli is aiming to overcome his weakness and regain some form ahead of the Ranji Trophy match for Delhi. He practiced with former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar in the nets and even had a long chat with him.

According to PTI, Virat Kohli called Sanjay Bangar to regain some form. Bangar arranged a training session for Kohli at a facility in Mumbai which is believed to have been conducted personally under his supervision.
Sanjay Bangar was India’s batting coach when Kohli was in the prime of his career. Bangar has also worked with Kohli in the RCB team management before. The former India batting coach was seen accompanying Kohli with a few shots from 16 yards.
The main objective was to develop a strong back game that would allow Kohli to comfortably play the balls that rise outside the stumps. The training session also aimed to create more range of square shots from the cover.

A movable cement slab was placed at the back of a length area, which may also be called a half-pitch area, to feed it with length ball balls that rise sharply out of the stump
Kohli faced a lot of trouble against these types of deliveries in the recent Test tour of Australia, where the balls tended to bounce more after being pitched on a good length. It led to his dismissal a no. sometimes throughout the series.
It should be noted that Virat Kohli is naturally a forward player and does not depend too much on his back game. However, overseas conditions where the balls move late require a batsman to play it late and use his backhand to perfection.
Over the years, Kohli has relied on his trademark cover, but this trait has led to his downfall in recent months. The idea of the practice session was to make sure they kept their end zones intact even if they didn’t get too many overfield balls.
Over the years, Kohli has been scoring most of his runs in front of the wicket with his traditional shots. However, he aims to develop his back game to further expand his range of scoring opportunities.
Virat Kohli had a poor Test series in Australia where he amassed 190 runs in five Tests at an average of 23.75. He was constantly concerned about off-stump balls and all his dismissals were in a similar manner where his outside edge went to the wicketkeeper or the slip fielder.
After playing the next Ranji Trophy game, Kohli will take part in the ODI series against England and then take part in the Champions Trophy where he will be key to India’s chances. The 36-year-old has a good record in ICC tournaments and ODI format.
