Activists in Venice launched a number of protests against Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who should marry the groom Lauren Sanchez next week at a lush dollars of dollars, which can close parts of the famous city.

61 Jeff Bezos is the third richest person in the world, according to a net value of $ 220.9 billion. It is the founder of Amazon and Space Tech Company Blue Origin.

Hundreds of high-profile guests should descend to Venice between June 23 and 28 for marital speeches, which are reported to take over the whole island of San Georgio, opposite St. Mark’s Square.

According to Italian media, almost every luxury hotel was registered with a wedding party, like a lot of water taxis.

“Venice is regarded as a showcase, the scene,” said Federico Tonineli, a 33-year-old Venetian activist associated with the lack of a protest group of Bezos.

“And this wedding is a symbol of the city’s exploitation … Venice is just an asset now.”

No place for BAOs brings together activists belonging to different Venice groups, who are campaigning for additional housing to reduce the Venice population to the flexible committee.

“All these topics are related,” Toninelli BBC said. “All of them are relevant to the fact that Venice turns into a place that puts tourists, not residents, to the center of their politics.”

On Thursday, the teams launched banners against Bezos from the bell tower of the San -Georgio Maggiore Basilica and the Rian Bridge. Next week they plan to disrupt the festive events, jumping into the channels to interfere with the water taxi and block different stoneNarrow streets of Venice, so as not to reach the wedding place.

As a result of the call on social media, people to protest, the activists accused the conservative mayor of Venice Luigi Brungyar of examining the residents “as trouble … Because for him the only true use of Venice is the von for events that make rich.”

The organizers say the purpose of the protests – which, in their opinion, will be completely peaceful – double.

“We want to ignite a common conversation and say that people such as a free – who represent the future we do not want, and the world we do not want to live here are not welcome here,” said Toninali, referring to the entrepreneurial enterprises of Bezos and his proximity to the Trump administration.

But the mayor of Brunar said that he was “ashamed” protesters: “What other city is organized by the Committee against the wedding of such an important person?”

“I hope (in Bezos) will not think,” he said.

Feeling the mayor’s indignation, the jeweler of the Tokatsyan Septak – who heads the Holy Mark’s shopping stores, told the Italian media that those who protest the “harms the city”.

“Such an event brings work and wealth, otherwise everything we have left is becoming more inexpensive tourism.”

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, the author and the former presenter, were together for several years and were engaged in 2023.

Although the wedding details were not revealed, there is no place for the Bezos Committee, which believes that the couple would give the knot in the church of the 10th century the Mizricard’s Abbey.

About 200 guests are expected, and many remain in the most exclusive hotels of Venice, as well as on the yachts of Bezos, bark and obon.

According to the Vogue magazine, the guest list can be included by Kim Kardashian – who was present Flipped into space on Blue Origin rocket Early this year. Trump family members are also present.

Ms Tonini said that the protesting of the gorgeous wedding of Bezos would lead to the broader problems facing her city and her fragile lagu.

As local housing is replaced by lease, the Venetians left the city. According to the local OCIO activist group, in 2023 the number of tourists first exceeded the number of residents.

Its current population is just under 49,000, against 175,000 in 1950.

Last year The city has entered a fee for entry for daily peak dates. The mayor of Bruznar noted this scheme as a success, but opposition politicians claim that this did not help to spread the flow of tourists who regularly behave the narrow streets of Venice.

However, Mrs. Toninali insisted that she and other activists did not mind the concept of tourism. “We also like to travel the world. The problem is not tourists here – it exploits tourism and relying on everything on it.”

“We have to think about the transition after tourism,” she said, emphasizing the need to move away from the concept of Venice as a scene for great brilliant events.

“The city administration that puts residents – not visitors – in front and in the center will be a good step forward.”

Jeff Bezosa’s wedding is not the first large-scale holiday of this kind that took place in Venice.

In 2014, actor George Clooney married a human rights lawyer Amala Alamuddin in a brilliant case, which saw how many celebrities descend along the channels of the Italian city. At the time, there was no significant shock against their event.
