Jamie Vardy was assaulted as “Grand” by Ruud Van Nistelrooy after scoring his 200th goal for Leicester City in his farewell appearance at the club.
Vardy, who fired Celebment in Leicester to an impressive Premier League title in 2015-16, received a honor guard before the final game of the Foxes campaign against Ipswich Town.
The two clubs will return to the championship next season after the relegation, but Vardy gave the right people to celebrate it in a historic 2-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.
Vardy opened the score in a game that marked his 500th appearance in the 28th minute, passing in the pass of James Justin and fired on the legs of Dara O’Shea and beyond the Ipswich goalkeeper Alex Palmer.
Kasey McATEER doubled Leicester’s leadership in the 69th minute, with Vardy he retired 11 minutes later to soak the flattery of home fans. He will not play at the end of next Sunday in Bournemouth.
“If you mark the 200th target in your 500th appearance, then you are a great one,” Van Nistelrooy said about Vardy.
“He has been a player and a unique person for this football club. In the coming years we will realize that we were part of this time.
“He is also a character, there is a story and an advantage for him. He is also a great captain. We motivated him to do -well for Jamie, but also to get more impetus after the victory of Southampton and the point against the nottingham forest. It’s some positive at the end of the season.”
It is still possible that the eighth place could be a European site despite Crystal Palace, calling for a place in Europe League with the final victory of the Cup on Manchester City.
It is up to Chelsea to win the league league and end out of the top five, and Fulham cut the gap in Brentford with a fast-paced victory of 3-2 on his West London rivals.
They took the lead in the 16th minute when Raul JimĂ©nez’s head was too strong for Mark Flekken, just because Bryan Mbuemo responded with a smart end on the lower right corner six minutes later.
Mbuemo lost the opportunity to do it 2-1 from the penalty site, as he was denied by Bernd Leno in the 28th minute after Joachim Andersen demolished Kevin Schade, but Brentford took the lead two minutes before the Yoane Wissa faucet.
But two goals in the space of a three -minute spell in the second half sealed it for Fulham, the good head of Tom Cairney followed a wonderful long -range strike from Harry Wilson to move Fulham a point behind Brentford.
Brighton and Hove Albion face Liverpool on Monday and Bournemouth visit Manchester City Tuesday, with both sides with the opportunity to jump to Brentford before the last day of Sunday.
