A Condemned killer in Utah The dementia that developed during its time is competent enough to be shot, the state judge ruled on Friday.
67-year-old Ralph Leo Menis was found guilty and sentenced to death in March 1988 for the murder of Maurin Hunsker in 1986, a 26-year-old three-year-old mother.
Judge Matthew Bates said that Menis “consistently understands” what is happening and why he is faced with the shooting despite the recent cognitive downturn.

“Ralph Menzys is a badly damaged brain, a 67-year-old man with dementia and significant memory problems,” his lawyer Lindsey said in a statement. “It is deeply anxious that Utah plans to remove Mr. Menzis from his wheelchair and oxygen to tie him in a shooting chair and shoot him to death.”

In February 1986, Menis stole Hunsaker from the store where she worked, where she worked, only three days after he was released on his own recognizance for a non -related crime. Later, Hunsker was found strangled from her throat in the picnic zone in the mountains of Vasatch in the north of Utah.
