US prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangion, a man accused of killing Brian Tompson, CEO of Unitedhealthcare.
In a statement on Tuesday, US Prosecutor General Bondi said he had ordered a federal prosecutor to seek punishment for “intentional, cold murder”.
On December 4, Mr. Tompson was shot dead outside the Hotel in New York. Police arrested Mr. Mangon, 26, after a few weeks in Pennsylvania after a nationwide manoire.
He pleaded not guilty and awaits a trial in the New York federal prison.
