Ukraine’s allies condemn Russia for rocket attack in Sami

The Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Sami, which killed 34 people – including two children – and suffered 117 others, was strongly condemned by the Western allies of Kiev.

On Sunday, two ballistic missiles hit the city center, exploding near the State University and Congressional Center, leaving bloody bodies scattered through the streets.

US Secretary of State Mark Rubio called the attack “horrific”, and German chancellor, waiting for Friedrich Merz accused Russia of committing a war crime.

There was no immediate official commentary on the attack on the part of Russia, whose forces on the neighboring border are said to be preparing for a major offensive.

The attack comes as the strongest military ally of Ukraine, continues the end of the war – in the fourth year – through negotiations under President Donald Trump.

Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelensky urged Trump to visit Ukraine and see the destruction given by Russian invasion.

“Please, before any decisions, any forms of negotiations, come to people, civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children destroyed or dead,” he said in an interview with CBS 60 minutes.

By proposing his condolences to his close victims, the US Secretary of State said the attack was a “tragic reminder” about why Trump’s administration “invested so much time and effort to try to end this war.”

Earlier, a special Messenger of Trump in Ukraine, who resigned, used Keith Kegl’s summer, used a stronger language, saying that the attack had passed “any decency”.

Merz, which is expected to come as a new German chancellor next month, said German public TV and radio company Ard that the attack on Sami is a “serious military crime”.

“It was a perfect act .. and it is a serious military crime, intentional and appointed,” the conservative politician said.

Meanwhile, the original German chancellor Olaf Scholtz said the attack showed that “only what was supposed to be in peace (worth) is worth it.”

French President Emmanuel Macron has accused Russia of “brazen disregard for human life, international law and diplomatic efforts of President Trump.”

“Strong measures are needed to introduce Russia,” he said. “France is working tirelessly on this purpose with its partners.”

Describing the attack as a “barbaric”, the President of the European Commission Ursul von der Leyen added: “Russia was and remains an aggressor, in a brazen violation of international law.

“Heavy measures are needed for the ceasefire. Europe will continue to resort to partners and maintain strong pressure on Russia until the bloodshed, and the fair peace will be reached under the terms and terms of Ukraine.”

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer also expressed his opinion, saying he was “delighted with the horrific attacks of Russia on civilians.”

UN Secretary-General’s spokesman Antonio Gutteres said he was “deeply disturbed” to find out about the missile attack.

“Attacks on civil and civilian objects are prohibited in accordance with international humanitarian legislation, and that any attacks where they happen should end immediately,” he added.

Gutirez emphasized the UN support for “significant efforts to a fair, lasting and comprehensive peace that fully supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”

On Sunday this year, there was the most deadly attack on civilians in Ukraine.

Another missile attack, early this month on April 4, killed 20 people and suffered 61 years in the city of blood.

On this occasion, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the restaurant was aimed at meeting “commanders and Western instructors”. There was no evidence.

Hundreds of thousands of people – the vast majority of soldiers – were killed or injured on all sides, as Russia launched a full -scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

UN estimates this Currently nearly seven million Ukrainians live as refugees.

The conflict returns for more than ten years, until 2014, when the pro -Russian president of Ukraine was overthrown. Then Russia annexed the Black Sea Peninsula and supported the rebels in bloody battles in eastern Ukraine.
