Uber Taps AI firm

Uber On Tuesday, she announced that she cooperated with the self -managed Wayve technology company to start tests of fully autonomous attractions in the UK, starting in the spring of 2026.

The fare app said that the pilot will become the first of its kind, as this will allow users to carry out Uber’s attractions without a present stand-off driver described by the industry as “Level 4.”

The cars that were driving on their own became the usual spectacle in San Francisco, where GoogleAutonomous Venture Waymo management offers a commercial riding service with its cars without drivers. However, other global players are racing to deploy the so -called “Robotaxi” services.

Andrew McDonald, president and Uber Chief Operational Director, said the partnership with Waes would move the campaign closer to his vision, “to autonomy a safe and reliable option for riders.”

“This is a defining moment for the UK autonomy,” Wayve CEO and co-founder Alex Kendal said in a statement. “With Uber and the OEM global partner, we are preparing to put our AI drivers technology on London streets.”

Uber said he was able to launch a pilot in the UK thanks to a “accelerated basis” for self -government of commercial pilots introduced at the UK’s Ministry.

Uber and Wayve said they would cooperate closely with the government and transport in London – a major body controlling the UK’s capital – on regulatory statements and permits before the trial.

Support for SoftBank, Wayve is a London startup that develops software that allows you to drive your own vehicles. Its platform uses artificial intelligence to allow cars to evaluate the neighborhood, and it is designed to apply in all conditions.

Last year, the UK accepted its autonomous vehicles to the law, which at the time the government said that by 2026 it was paying the path to self -driving.
