The ongoing fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground has seen a fascinating battle of resilience and aggression as India battles Australia on a challenging surface. For strains on day 2, India found themselves at 141/6 in their second innings, maintaining a slender but significant lead of 145 runs.
After a strong fight from the Indian bowlers restricting Australia to 181 in their first innings, Scott Boland emerged as the thorn in India’s side. His incisive bowling returned figures of 4/42 in the second innings, reducing India to a precarious position. However, the energetic counterattack led Rishabh pantswho powered his way to a thrilling 61 off just 33 balls, brought the contest to life.
His bold strokeplay, including six boundaries and four towering sixes, was a much-needed counter-attack against Boland and Pat Cumminsthat had tightened the screws from the beginning. As the match heads into Day 3, all eyes are on the lower order, with Ravindra Jadeja i Washington Sundar tasked with extending the lead on a track that offers a lot to bowlers.
Resuming with an overnight score of 9/1, Australia faced relentless pressure from the Indian bowling attack on Day 2. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj i Prasidh Krishna he exploited the surface expertly, maintaining relentless precision and extracting movement. The first advances were seen Marnus Labuschagne i Usman Khawaja get out cheaply, with Bumrah dismissing both batsmen for a flawless seam position. Steve Smith he held the innings together with a composed 33 but his endurance ended when Krishna induced a lead a KL Rahul.
The focus then shifted to Beau Websterwhose big 57 provided Australia with some stability. Webster’s patient knock, laced with five boundaries, showed his temperament, but India’s bowlers always looked a step ahead. Siraj’s fiery pace and Krishna’s consistency broke partnerships at crucial moments, while the debutant Nitish Kumar Reddythe dismissal of Cummins and Mitchell Starc underlined India’s depth. Boland’s dismissal by Siraj ended Australia’s innings at 181, leaving them four runs behind, ensuring the game remained delicately balanced.
India’s second innings started with high expectations but soon descended into chaos as Boland wreaked havoc with his accuracy and control. The visitors lost Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal i Virat Kohli within 13 overs, leaving them reeling at 59/3. Shubman Gill and Pant briefly calmed the ship before Gill was killed by Beau Webster’s sharp turn. Pant, however, turned the tide with a brilliant counter-attack that left the Australian bowlers scrambling for answers.
Displaying his full repertoire of strokes, Pant targeted both spinners and pacers, racing to a half-century in just 29 balls. His partnership with Jadeja added 46 crucial runs before Cummins struck to remove the dynamic left-hander. Boland again dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy soon after, strengthening Australia’s grip. Despite Pant’s heroics, India’s innings remained fragile, with Jadeja and Sundar tasked with leading a tricky final session. His stoic defending ensured that India reached stumps unscathed, keeping alive the possibility of a competitive total on Day 3.
Is Scott Boland the best fast bowler in the world not to feature in a Test nation’s first-choice XI?

Scott Boland’s Highest Quality Bowling Stitching.

Scott Boland is a good bowler. But by no means does he average 20 years in any other era
That is why bowling should be scrutinized more in this era of bowling and batsmen should be given room to manoeuvre.
This is case by case, of course. Batting still rules in Pakistan, England has seen a resurgence, NZ stayed

If you see Scott Boland in public, it’s your civic duty to buy him a beer

He looks scarier than Scott Boland…😳

Forget stands and ends, Scott Boland might have a ‘length’ to his name #AusvInd

This is the reason why Rishabh Pant is the most feared Indian batsman in Australia. This was spectacular and in this field, full of treachery, it was necessary.

This is the Rishabh Pant I know and have liked over the years. Put pressure back on opposition players by taking calculated risks.

Sam Konstas, watch and learn from Master Rishabh Pant.

Sunil Gavaskar reminds me of Master Shifu and Rishabh Pant from Kung fu Panda.
No matter what the “guru” says, the student will continue to do what they believe works.
🤦🏾♂️😁

It’s crazy that Scott Boland revealed his plans to get Kohli out.
And he still pulled it off!
Using the exact plan.It shows how good he is and also how Kohli is…
