The 17th confrontation of the Big Bash League 2024-25 on New Year’s Eve Adelaide Strikers assuming Perth Scorchers to the Adelaide Oval. The visiting side won the toss and invited the Strikers to bat first, which proved detrimental as the Scorchers secured their third win in BBL 2024-25. The Forwards meanwhile remain second bottom of the table along with Melbourne Stars with just 1 win from 5 matches.
The forwards had a terrible start to the innings with Ollie Pope, Chris Lynn i Jake Weatherald returning soon to the pavilion. opener By Arcy Short and captain Alex Ross offered some resistance to add a crucial 42 runs to the team’s total between the two batsmen. However, the Strikers would never have reached a triple-digit total without a remarkable 47-run knock from Brendon Doggett and 29 tracks from Cameron Boyce. The two batsmen, batting at No.10 and No.11 respectively, contributed immensely in helping the Strikers reach a total of 142/8 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Scorchers did not start the chase well Matthew Hurst be dismissed in the second half of the innings. Aaron Hardie also, the wicketkeeper batsman followed four deliveries later. The Scorchers at that time were in deep trouble with a score of 5 runs for 2 wickets. opener Find Allen and medium order mixer Cooper Connolly took the chase on his shoulders and added 84 runs between them to prevent the team from going down like a pack of cards. Allen’s flawless 23-ball half-century provided the team with a solid foundation to make this chase a cakewalk for the Scorchers. Towards the end, another partnership between Conolly and the captain Ashton Turner he did the rest to get around the New Year’s clash.

Cooper Connolly is progressing very well, Finn hopefully back to form and the skipper with the icing on the cake.

I can see Cooper Connolly becoming Ussie Khawaja’s replacement in the Test side. I realize it was only a T20 game tonight but he has such a good temper, I see him playing in Tests very soon. #bbl14
