Twelve people died from carbon monoxide poisoning in the Gudauri ski resort

Twelve people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning at a ski resort in Georgia, police said.

The bodies of 11 foreigners and one Georgian citizen were found in a sleeping area above a restaurant at the Gudauri ski station in the north of the country, officials said.

Police said that “preliminary tests do not show any signs of violence on the bodies” and that it appears to have been an accident, according to the AFP news agency.

Gudauri is the largest and highest mountain ski resort in the post-Soviet space.
