Tuchel admits England “frozen” by Senegal in shock defeat

Thomas Tuchel says his side of England felt “frozen” against Senegal after losing 3-1 on the land of Nottingham.

The three lions rounded their international pause with a friendly against the African side, which recorded a first victory on the continent against them.

Harry Kane’s initial goal was not enough to deny Senegal to Midlands, who twice won in the second half to More Tuchel in his first defeat.

And he made a bleak assessment of the representation, admitting that he was not good enough on the pitch.

Speaking in the press after the game, he said, “Yes, of course, it is a disappointing result. I’m not sure if we didn’t deserve a little more results.

“We felt a little frozen, not active enough for a long time during the game. We defended quite well for long periods in the first half and then our best period came when we were 2-1.

“We have given the first two goals: very easy goals, we must defend -better.

“We would have expressed our joy just like Senegal if we won?” 🗣

“The reaction was good after going down. Suddenly we were more active, freer, more fluent, more aggressive. We had great chances of equating us.”

Jude Bellingham left the bench late and thought he took an equaltator to make him 2-2, only for which Var was ruled out for an offside.

The moment, Tuchel added, “I just saw it, it seems more my shoulder than the hand. I saw that a goal has to be checked, this is the first time the referee has to review a goal. So it is either a mistake, so they get me out. Or is it not a mistake, so it’s a goal.”

The German CAP was also criticized for having taken away Harry Kane, but not to replace him with a striker, despite leaving.

Ivan Toney started the last moments, but it was too little, too late at that moment.

Tuchel said: “It was more than three minutes. I think Ivan is a specialist in these situations, we have created many possibilities with Morgan Gibbs-Wite, EBS (EBERECHI EZE), Morgan Rogers and with Jude (Bellingham) in fluid positions.

“I think Ivan is the strongest when we have a lot of balls in the box, and it was so we prepared it for 80 minutes.”
