President Donald Trump has announced a 90-day pause for countries affected by higher US tariffs but exacerbated the spiral trade war with China.
As a result of a dramatic change in the policy, a few hours after the collections against approximately 60 trading partners in America came into force, Trump said that the authorized universal “reduced mutual tariff by 10%” and the negotiations continued.
At the same time, he increased tariffs for goods from China to 125%, accusing Beijing of “absence” after he avenged, saying that it would impose 84% tariffs for US imports.
This happens one week after Trump Announced taxes on imports of all goods included in the USIn the biggest shock of international trade in the decades.
His plan set the base tariff for 10% on all imports remaining on the spot, but also higher rates for the partners who called the White House “the worst offenders” for what the president considers unjust trading practice.
This included the European Union, Vietnam, South Africa and many others.
Last week, large market shocks followed the tariffs for Trump, and the sale causes trillion in loss around the world, many Americans are afraid that prices are increasing, and some analysts that predict an increase in the chances of recession.
On Wednesday, before Trump said to suspend higher tariffs for goods from most countries, the US government saw interest rates on debt up to 4.5% – the highest level since February.
After a few hours when the suspension was announced, American shares in rocket with S&P 500 increased by 7% in the afternoon.
An announcement of the change of the plan on his social platform, Trump said more than 75 countries had contacted US officials to agree on trade decisions.
The last update means all 60 so -called “worst” countries that were to be achieved by higher US tariffs, now they will receive a reduced rate by 10%except China.
Trump said the additional tariff on China will act at once, writing: “At some point, I hope China will realize in the near future that the days of the US and other countries are no longer sustainable and acceptable.”
US Treasury Minister Scott Insent insisted that the policy did not influence global falls, but the Senior Democrat Chuck Sumer said the decision showed that Trump was “making sure and retreat”.
The confrontation between China and the United States – the two largest economies in the world – began when last week Trump announced new tariffs.
China was injured with an additional 34% of Levi’s 20% tariff, which the president created earlier this year. However, Beijing quickly avenged 34% of US import tariffs to China.
In response, Trump threatened an additional 50%, resulting in 104%on Tuesday if Beijing did not retreat. China did not change the course and said that “would” fight the end “when the US insists on the provoking a tariff war or a trade war.”
Just a few hours after 104% of the tariffs from the US expelled earlier, Beijing announced that we would raise their own tariffs for US goods from 34% to 84% from Thursday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry press secretary Lin Jian said on Wednesday that the United States “continues the offensive tariff in China.”
He said China opposes such “bullying practices” and the US should show “attitude to equality, mutual respect and reciprocity” if it hopes to solve problems through negotiations.
