Trump signs an executive order, delaying TikTok’s enforcement action for 75 days

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order aimed at restoring the TikTok service in the United States

The order directs relevant government agencies to “pursue a resolution” that “protects national security” while “saving (TikTok.)” Via the order, Trump ordered the US Attorney General to take no action for 75 days to enforce Protective Americans. from the Foreign Adversary Controlled Application Act (PAFACA), the act that effectively banned TikTok in the United States on Sunday, January 19.

“During this period, the Department of Justice will not take any action to enforce the Act or impose any penalty against any entity for any noncompliance with the Act,” the executive order. read. “Even after the expiration of the period specified above, the Department of Justice has not taken any action to enforce the Act (…)”

Trump’s move comes next a decision of the United States Supreme Court to support PAFACA, which passed with bipartisan congressional support during former President Joe Biden’s term.
