The US will remove all sanctions on Syria, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.

“I will order a termination of sanctions against Syria to give them a chance for greatness,” Trump said on a packed assembly hall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the first appearance of a four-day visit to the Middle East.

“In Syria, which has seen so much misfortune and death, there is a new government that will hopefully succeed in stabilizing the country and preservation of peace. This is what we want to see,” he said in a broad speech that was focused on the US relations with the Middle East.

“In Syria, they had a share of travesty, war, killing many years. That is why my administration has already taken the first steps to restore normal relations between the US and Syria for the first time in ten years.”

“That’s why I say, Syria’s good luck. Show us something very special as they did, frankly, in Saudi Arabia.”
