US President Donald Trump said he would try to return some territory to Ukraine during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.
“Russia occupied most of Ukraine. They occupied the main territory. We would try to return part of this territory for Ukraine,” he said at a press conference.
Trump said talks in Alaska would be a “meeting” aimed at calling Putin to stop the war, and that “there will be” some replacements, changes in the ground. “
This is not the first case. Kyiv has never claimed any Russian territories.
Trump said he would update European leaders if Putin proposes a “fair case” during the negotiations, adding that he would talk to the Ukrainian President Floodimir Zelensky first “out of respect”.
