President Donald Trump said on Monday that gold would not face tariffs, beating a resolution of US customs officials that precious metal bars imported from Switzerland will face duties.
“Gold will not be raised!” Trump said in a social position. Gold futures closed 2.48% lower at $ 3.404.70 per ounce after the announcement.
The precious metal reached a record high Friday, after the US Customs and Border Protection decided that 1 kilogram and 100 ounces of gold bars from Switzerland were subjected to 39%, which Trump imposed in the country.
