President Donald Trump Friday said they are suspected shooter Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk is in custody.
“I think we find him high in custody,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
“I think we are in great shape,” he said. “He is in custody.”
“In fact, someone was very close to him,” Trump added.
The comments came less than an hour before law enforcement officers had to hold a press conference on their confusion for the killer, who deadly shot Kirk on Wednesday during the fresh air event at Utah State University.
On Thursday, the FBI released cereal photos of an “interesting man” and video footage showing that the man jumped off the roof from where Kirk was shot and fled. But the authorities have not yet shared the name of the suspect or announced arrest.
