President Donald Trump And Russian President Vladimir Putin held a 2-hour call on Monday that the United States stated that the impetus would force Russia to cease its deadly war in Ukraine.
Both Trump and Putin described the call as “Frank” and “useful”, but it is not immediately clear what the results were achieved.
Trump came to social media to praise the call that went “very well” and said: “Russia and Ukraine will start stopping the fire immediately and, more importantly, stopped the war.”

“The conditions for this will be coordinated between the two sides as it may be because they know the details of the negotiations that no one else knows about,” he added.
Putin, in a statement after the call, also noted that “ceasefire with Ukraine is possible” but noted “Russia and Ukraine have to find compromises that match both sides. “
Any specific details about the nature of these compromises remain unclear, despite talks in Turkey on Friday.
Talks on ceasefire fell last week after the Ukrainian delegation stated that it was presented with the demands of the Russian delegation, which were “unacceptable”, including calls for complete removal of Ukrainian troops from four Ukrainian regions, which were illegally annexed in 2022, including Hersan.
The Russian delegation also allegedly demanded that the international community not only recognize the regions as Russian, but also stop all assistance to Ukraine, including plans for the granting of peacekeeping troops after the completion of fighting.
