US President Donald Trump has said in Mexico does not need to pay tariffs for goods that go under the trade pact between the two countries and Canada until April 2.
Trump did not confirm if the suspension also extended to Canada, but the secretary of trade Howard Lutnit said he had previously hoped that the appeal would apply to both neighbors of America.
The last step is the second rise two days from Trump on its tariffs.
On Wednesday he said that temporarily would Replacement manufacturers of 25% of import taxes only a day after they came into force.
Lutnick told CNBC that temporary release from car imports from Canada and Mexico can be extended to all products that are part of the US-Mexico Caud (USMCA) agreement.
USMCA was created during the first Trump service. Its 34 sections covered cars, dairy products and lumber, among other things, and the agreement included a review every six years.
On Thursday, Trump wrote about Truth Social that Mexico will be released by April 2.
“After talking to President Claudia Sheinbaum from Mexico, I agreed that in Mexico it would not be necessary to pay tariffs for everything that falls under the USMCA agreement,” he said.
