Trent Alexander-Arnold faces six to eight weeks away and could lose the Championship of Real Madrid Champions League with Liverpool after the club confirmed that the International of England had suffered an injury to a hamstrout.
Alexander-Arnold, who decided to controversy leaving Liverpool to join Madrid at the end of last season, was withdrawn to the fifth minute of The 2-1 victory of Los Blancos on Marseille on Tuesday.
Confirming the nature of the injury, a statement from Madrid read: “After the tests carried out today by the medical services of Real Madrid to our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, a muscle injury to the female biceps in the left leg has been diagnosed. They will follow more updates.”
Although Madrid has not announced a calendar for the return of Alexander-Arnold, it reports that it is missing at least six weeks and that it could be out of two months, putting a return to Anfield in the Champions League.
Madrid is unbeaten this season, but Alexander-Arnold has begun only three games and has attracted a scrutiny for his performances for LaLiga leaders to the moment.
Alexander-Arnold is now facing the perspective of losing some of the biggest games of the season for Xabi Alonso’s men.
An eight-week calendar for Alexander-Arnold’s recovery would see him losing eight league games and three champions league meetings.
It will not be available for the Madrid derby with Atlético Madrid on September 27, while Alexander-Arnold is also unlikely to be ready for the first classic of the season against Barcelona on October 26.
In the Champions League, Alexander-Arnold will be lost in front of Kairat and Juventus. If you really need eight weeks to recover, Alexander-Arnold will be a spectator for the clash between Madrid and Liverpool in Anfield on November 4.
Alexander-Arnold should be fit for the last classifiers of the World Cup of England against Serbia and Albania in November. The Madrid game in Elche on November 23 would mark his return team for his club in case he needed eight weeks to return to physical fitness.
