Travis Kelce he scored a touchdown during his game on Wednesday, December 25, breaking the Kansas City Chiefs’ major league record.
Kelce’s touchdown on Wednesday made the 35-year-old athlete beat Tony Gonzalez‘s previously held record for most career touchdown receptions. To celebrate, Kelce downed the ball in tribute to Gonzalez himself.
“I’ve been following him since he was a rookie and I’m not surprised at him,” Gonzalez, 48, said during a November broadcast of NFL on Prime Video. “He’s one of the greatest tight ends ever. … If he cheats on her, I’ll pay that fine!”
It is against NFL rules to throw a football through a goal post, often resulting in a hefty fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. The league has not confirmed further details of a possible fine.

In a post-game interview, Kelce opened up about his record receiving milestone.
“It’s everything to me. Tony has been my mentor, he’s been there for me (with) any questions I’ve ever had,” Kelce quipped. “I feel like I’m still trying to fill that guy’s shoes.”

He added, “He’s such an unbelievable competitor and I have so much love for him. It’s an honor to be able to speak with him.”
Quarterback Mahomes, 29, also acknowledged Kelce’s performance.
“We got a lot of weapons out there. We’re getting healthy at the right time,” Mahomes said. “The big guy leads us all, but we’ve got guys everywhere. I’m trying to keep going as long as I can.”
The Chiefs’ victory over the Steelers earns the Missouri team the No. 1 seed in its AFC conference.
“I thought it was a full team performance. The defense stepped up, the offense stepped up (and) everybody had their stamp on the game,” Mahomes quipped. “I told my pregnant wife (Mahomes of Brittany) I was going to get the No. 1 seed, so we could have the baby.”
Patrick and Brittany, 29, are currently expecting their third baby. In a pregame interview on Wednesday, Patrick told sportscaster Kay Adams that his wife was due “any day now.”
Brittany, for her part, without traveling to Pittsburgh for game day and instead watched the NFL game at home in KC with children Sterling, 3, and Bronze, 21.
