Tottenham Sign Xavi Simons in an agreement of £ 51.8 million

Tottenham has announced the signing of Xavi Simons, 22, by RB Leipzig, in an agreement worth 51.8 million £.

The 28 -headed Dutch international is signing a five -year contract until 2030 with the North London Club, which has the option of expanding its stay for another two years.

The reports had stated that Simons had been ready to join Chelsea this summer, with the Blues with a long-term interest in the graduate of the Barcelona Academy.

But after the Blues chose to prioritize the signature of Alejandro Garnacho, the ex-Paris Saint-Germain chose to join his rivals and link with Thomas Frank.

The international teammate, Micky van Ven, will be incorporated, and will provide such a necessary quality in paper number 10 after Spurs lost James Maddison for an ACL injury to the preseason.

Xavi’s first words

Speaking for the first time as a new Spurs player, Simons said to the club’s website: “I’m really happy and I can’t wait to go.

“It’s a great club and when I met the main coach, I learned immediately that this was the right place for me.

“I will take the team to be fired, but also work and discipline. I want to do everything I can to win, for the team and also for the fans.”

The manager Thomas Frank echoed the word of his new star man and added: “I am very pleased that we have brought Xavi: it is a great complement to the workforce.

“He is still young, but he has a good experience and in recent years he has played many games at the upper level.

“Xavi has shown his ability to achieve goals and assistance, both in position number 10 and left.

“He also has a great eye for his colleagues in terms of unlocking defenses, and I know he will come in and be part of a good team that is already working together.”

Xavi Simons arose through the famous Academy of Barcelona before moving to PSG. Since then, he has played PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig, impressive in each club.
