Lewis Crocker (21-0, 13 kos) and Paddy Donovan (14-1, 11 kos) will fight for the heavy weight title IBF in a Dazn resale on September 13 at Windsor Park, north of Belfast, Ireland.
Earlier this year, Donovan, 26, was disqualified in the eighth round for Belting Crocker after the round ended in a heavyweight title eliminator of IBF. Later he called after Donovan appeal to the IBF. Therefore, we are seeing a second struggle between these two instead of someone who has a chance.
IBF Crocker and #3 Donovan have maneuver in their high rankings by creating smart parties, without having faced any solid world-class opposition. For UK fans, they are not pleased that these two will fight for 147 LB’s IBF vacant belt without having been included in the division to obtain their high ranking.
Paper champion argument
Having the IBF belt at stake for the reissue of Crocker-Donovan 2 Taints the title, because neither of them has shown that they deserve to fight or a battle. Whoever wins the title of IBF of his confrontation will be considered as the paper champion in the same light as the Belt-Tutrer Mario Barrio Barrios. This is reality. Whoever comes out of this match will have an asterisk next to his name in the eyes of many fans, who will consider them as second.
The promoter of Crocker and Donovan, Eddie Hearn, obviously considers them that they had won their place to fight for the Crown of the IBF, but would know that neither of them has gone through the hard opposition to deserve to fight for a belt.
Crocker and Lewis fighters should have already fought

“This is absolutely huge: the first struggle of the world title of all Irish,” said Eddie Hearn. “The first meeting between Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan had everything: an electric accumulation, guts, demolition and a very controversial ending. Tonight of drama in March it has set the resale perfectly and on September 13 promises to be even greater and better.”
What fans do not need is the winner of the Crocker-Donovan 2 struggle to mainly defend IBF belt against regional fighters instead of outside the United Kingdom. When you look at their records, it is clear that the fighters of their country mainly fought. Will we see this same type of game preparation for the IBF belt winner on September 13? If so, the name of the IBF title should be renamed, perhaps adding the word “Commonwealth”?
