Tommy Tuberville on why he’s pushing bill to ban trans athletes: ‘There was an attack on women’

For the Republican, who has long championed the bill, some of the decisions made during the last four years of the Biden administration are driving his urgency on the issue.

“It’s a pity what happened here in the last four years. It was an attack on gender, it was really an attack on women, all women,” Tuberville told OutKick’s. “Don’t @ me with Dan Dakich.”

“They don’t like women,” he said. “They like everyone to think when they’re born, ‘you’re not a woman, you’re actually a man in women’s clothing.’

The Biden administration, along with other Democrats, has taken sweeping steps over the past four years to allow trans athletes to compete in women’s and women’s sports.

On January 20, 2021, hours after President Biden took office, he issued an executive order executive order on the topic “Prevention and fight against discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation”.

That order included a section that read: “Children should be able to learn without having to worry about being denied access to a restroom, locker room, or school sports.”

In April, Biden issued a sweeping rule clarifying that Title IX’s ban on “sex” discrimination in schools extends to discrimination based on gender identity, sexual orientation and “pregnancy or related medical conditions.” The administration insisted that the regulation did not apply to sports law. However, several experts the evidence presented Fox News Digital in June that this would eventually lead to more biological males participating in women’s sports.

Several states filed lawsuits and passed their own laws to address the issue, and then Supreme Court then voted 5-4 in August to deny the Biden administration’s emergency request to implement its sweeping changes in those states.

Democrats have proposed other federal legislation that would allow more transgender inclusion in women’s sports. In March 2023, Democrats pushed for a Transgender Bill of Rights, proposing resolution “recognizing that the development and implementation of a Transgender Bill of Rights is the responsibility of the federal government.” Resolution specifically called for federal law to ensure that biological males can “participate in sports on teams and in programs most consistent with their gender identity; (and) use school facilities most consistent with their gender identity.”

Multinational scandals broke out as a result of these laws and other democratic laws at the state level only in 2024. The issue became one of the strongest points of attack for the Trump campaign and other Republicans as they retook control of the White House and both houses of Congress in November, as many Democrats abandoned their earlier support for trans inclusion amid an overwhelming backlash. Biden’s Department of Education was even forced to withdraw a proposed rule that would have barred states from banning trans inclusion in December.

A national exit poll by the Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee found that 70% of moderate voters think the issue of “Donald Trump’s opposition to allowing boys and transgender men to play women’s and women’s sports, and boys and transgender men to use restrooms, is important.” girls and women”. to them.

Now, Tuberville’s bill will be their first step toward solidifying their position on the issue before the election.

The measure would remain which deals with Chapter IX gender as “recognized solely on the basis of a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth” and does not adjust it to apply to gender identity.

The bill also would ban federal funding for athletic programs that allow biological males to participate in women’s and girls’ sports.

The event is co-sponsored by 23 Republican senators, including Senators James Risch and Mike Crapa of Idaho, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, Tom Tillis and Ted Budd of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capita of Virginia, Kevin Cramer, RN. D., Cindy Hyde-Smith and Roger Wicker of Mississippi, Tom Cotton, R-Ark., James Lankford, R-Okla., Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy of Montana, Roger Marshall, R-Kan., Mike Lee, R-Utah, John F. Kennedy, R-La., John Barrasso and Cynthia Lamis, R-Ark. Wyoming, Eric Schmidt, R-Mo., Marsha Blackburn and Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Cathy Britt, R-Ala., and Pete Ricketts, R-Neb.

New Senate Majority Leader John Thune, RS.D., has already given his blessing to Tuberville’s bill to move forward, and a vote on the measure could come as early as the end of the week.
