Tom Hanks Paid tribute to Apollo Astronaut 13 Jim Lovell In an Instagram Tetching post following the death of the space explorer at the age of 97.

Lovell was famous for becoming a commander in the Apollo 13 space mission, which was nearly fatal during an attempt to land on the moon in 1970. Lovell’s family confirmed through a statement on Friday that the astronaut died in Illinois earlier this week.
“We are sad to announce the death of our beloved father, Captain USN James A. ‘Jim’ Lovell, Navy pilot and officer, astronaut, leader, and Space explorer,” said the Lovell family in the statement shared with a number of outlets. “We are extremely proud of his life and incredible career successes, highlighted by his legendary leadership in the innovation of human space flights.”
The statement continued, “But, for all of us, he was Dad, Grandad, and the leader of our family. Most importantly, he was our hero. We will lose his intolerable optimism, his sense of humor, and the way he made us all feeling the impossible.”
