Todd Chrisley reflects on the hardest time in his wife and wife Julie ChrisleyLife – and not when they were both imprisoned.
“I got someone asking me while in prison – he’s an attorney – he said,” This must be the darkest day of your life, “said Todd, 56, on the episode Wednesday, July 30, of the “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast. “And I said, ‘No, not.’”
Todd noted that the man was a “huge attorney” who is “very rich” and appeared to be shocked by his attention.
“I said, ‘The darkest day of my life was when Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer.’ Not my father’s death. “When you talk about PTSD, people get help for it, you and I know that I have that because of that moment in our life. That’s the heaviest situation I’ve ever dealt with and the most frightening issue I’ve ever dealt with.”
He continued, “We will take 28 months at FPC architacola Any day of the week over that fear. Because at FPC Architacola, I had an exit date. But with that diagnosis of breast cancer, I had to live every day wondering when your departure date was. “
Todd noted that there was “much” disconnect between him and Julie, now 52, then. (Julie was Been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and had a double mastectomy.)
“I will never forget, you said, ‘I’m here. I’m going to be fine.’ Just until we had that innovative moment for me – and I still struggle with it to this day – but that was an innovative moment for me, ”said Todd. “So prison wasn’t the darkest day of my life. Cancer was the darkest day of my life. Losing my father was a dark day, not compared to you. Losing my father was worse than me going for 28 months to prison.”
Todd explained that a reporter recently asked him what he would “change” for his life, and replied that he wanted to change Julie’s diagnosis.
After the interaction, Todd claimed one of the couple’s children who asked him why he did not mention a prison. (Todd and Julie share the son of Chase, 29, daughter of Savannah, 27 and her son Grayson, 19. Todd is also the father of the daughter of Lindsie, 35, and her son Kyle, 33, which he shares with ex-wife Teresa terry. Adopted the Chloe pair, 12, of Kyle in 2016.)
“That child looked at me and told me later, ‘Dude, you should have said you wouldn’t have been in prison.’ I said, ‘But it wasn’t.’ Because with cancer, I was already imprisoned.
While Todd noted that he and Julie had physically separated for 28 months, she explained that she did not leave her side “spiritually and mentally.”
“In my mind, mentally and emotionally, I was filming in another location,” quoted Todd from his experience in prison. “I was shooting a movie. I was on location for a movie. Now, it was like a **** Y movie and I’m going to make a movie about this experience. But that wasn’t my worst experience, because how could you say that was your worst experience when you come out and I have at least 75 relationships I’ve made with men of every age group who have made more groups for me.
The pair were convicted of charges including tax evasion and bank and wire fraud in 2022. Todd and Julie, who have maintained their innocence, were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively. The couple was released in May after receive pardons from President Donald Trump.
