Tina, 71, and Beyoncé, 43, are business partners in the POP supermarket hair care line, Curelaunched in 2024, and The Knowles Matriarch admits that it is not always easy to mix a family with business.
“There are sometimes difficulties because when you are dealing with your child, or they are dealing with their mother, you have disagreements,” Tina shared on a bonus chapter on Tuesday, June 2, Meghan Markle‘S. “Female Founder Confessions” podcast.

“I’m always the one to a cave. I’ve been so since I was young. If my kids are mad at me, I can’t take it, so I’ll apologize,” said Tina. “Even as adults, if we have disagreements or whatever, I’m the one to call because I don’t want to waste that time, and I never want to not be close to my children. It’s just my priority.”
“We have disagreements about things, but it’s her business,” Tina continued. “I help with the business because I just want to leave this earth knowing that, besides entertainment, it is going to be right. That’s a big part of it for me.”
“But on the whole, we’re really getting on, very well. It’s her business, so she gets to win,” added Tina of disagreements with her daughter.

“It’s been my dream forever. And Beyoncé, it’s been a dream of it, so we’ve talked about this for years and years,” said Tina. “She was not interested in pursuing another business because in her younger years, she focused entirely on her singing and skills.”
Tina continued, “He took a convincing thing. I said, ‘I’ll work on it and we’ll work on it together.’ And so at last, he said, ‘Okay, we can get started.’ I didn’t want to start it on my own.
While a mother and daughter can conflict from time to time in terms of their business venture, Tina said Beyoncé has implicit trust in her mother, who has decades of experience as a salon owner.
“I trust him. She’s such a keen business woman. She knows so much about hair. We trust each other,” Tina told Meghan. “And sometimes I say, ‘I want to build this office and I want a test salon at the back and I want to get a lab in there.’ And everyone else was like, ‘You can’t do that in that amount.’ She’ll say, ‘I know you know what you’re doing.’ “
“In a room full of people who were councilors, they were, ‘I don’t think that’s a good idea.’ And she was like, ‘My mum knows what she does.’ So she trusts me for things, and I trust him, ”said Tina.
