TikTok resumes services in the US after Trump’s promise

TikTok is restoring service to its 170 million US users after President-elect Donald Trump said he would suspend the app when he takes office on Monday.

On Sunday, the Chinese-owned app stopped working for US users amid concerns that their data could be accessed by Chinese officials.

TikTok later said in a statement that it was in the process of “restoring service” hours after America went dark.

It thanked the president-elect for “providing much-needed clarity and certainty” and said they would work with Trump “on a long-term solution that will keep TikTok in the United States.”
