Thunderbolts* Marvel* wins 3.5 out of 4 stars from weekly link editor us weekly nicole massabrook.
Marvel’s cinematic universe is so back. Thunderbolts* are exactly the movies Jolt Marvel Studios needed.
The film, which hits theaters on Friday, May 2, follows Yelena Belvova (Florence Pugh), Black Widow’s little sister, as she struggles to find a place in the world. She was a child soldier, trained to be a murderer, and now she is a mercenary for hire. She admits to her latest victim that she feels lonely, as she is in a dark space.
When Yelena and several other hands had hired (Wyatt Russell‘s John Walker/US Agent Hannah John-KamenAva Starr/Ghost) realizes they have been sent to kill each other to cover Valentina wrongdoing (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), their boss, suddenly Yelena is not alone. She has to find out how to lead a team so they can stay alive.
Thunderbolts* not full of listers of a list, but any Guardians of the galaxy Fan can tell you that names are not what makes these films good. Scroll down to find out why the Thunderbolts* Just become the most interesting group of heroes that Marvel has had in years:
Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Bob (Lewis Pullman), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbor), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Barnes) in Thundermolts*.
Chuck Zlotnick/MarvelThunderbolts* Really funny, and not just the standard sarcastic patches that Marvel has become known for. As these are not necessarily typical heroes, they do not have typical jokes. John Walker is so annoying that viewers will want to punch him in the face (which is a real praise for Russell), and a wicked -d -yelena is always hitting the mark. Quickly, the dynamic becomes prickly brothers and sisters as they agree dreadfully to work together.
However, there are Dafydd Harbor‘s Alexei Shastakov/Red Guardian who shines by being the most abusive father of Yelena. It messes everything in the best way, achieving very funny moments for the Super Spy Badass.
The belly laughter is a type of Trojan wooden horse for the emotional gut punch of Thunderbolts*.
Finally Marvel nailed what movies made like American Captain: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the galaxy So good – the human relations. In Thunderbolts*Yelena is looking for some kind of lead, and she contacts this team of just as messy and traumatization. She works through her own battles with depression by reaching out to all (Lewis Pullman), which struggles deeply with mental illness and addiction.
The message about depression and fighting through loneliness and loneliness is nothing surprisingly terrible, but it always applies. It makes these characters, who do not typically have transferable circumstances, feel familiar and worth saving.
Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Bob (Lewis Pullman).
Chuck Zlotnick/MarvelThunderbolts* It doesn’t ask you to remember everything that came before and doesn’t feel like a two -hour ad for the next MCU movie. Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) a good guy, and Yelena Belova is Black Widow’s little sister. The Avengers have not been replaced since Iron Man’s death Avengers: Endgame. That’s it. That’s all the information the ordinary viewer needs to enjoy Thunderbolts*.
There are definitely things for us nerds-the post-scene scene will make MCU fans kick their feet with excitement-but no one loses anything by not watching projects in the past. The movie is actually a great jump in a point to anyone who without Have seen these movies in a while.
That’s not to say that the movie is perfect. Bucky fans will undoubtedly want his arc a little stronger (or at least explain how he decided to become a congressman). It could be argued that all Thunderbolts* members should have had childhood flashes rather than just two of them. It also embraces the bleak color palette, fading that should have been left in the 2010s.
But the film still has so much more to enjoy than complaining about it. We haven’t even mentioned ground and credible fighting scenes, a reasonable two -hour running time, the minimum use of CGI (we’re still salty for that final American Captain: A brave new world Sequence) and glorious Hair Sebastian Stan. There is plenty that makes Marvel’s Thunderbolts* Totally worth watching.
