Two men and one woman were killed by marine mines while swimming in Odessa, Ukrainian media reported.
The local official confirmed that the three were killed by “explosive devices” on the beaches, near the bay, where recreational swimming is prohibited.
The Black Sea has long become a popular rest in Ukraine, but many of its beaches were considered dangerous after a complete invasion of Russia.
Officials urged vacation visitors not to swim in the forbidden waters.
Witnesses reported to the local Domska outlets that the explosions occurred at 11:30 (9:30 BST) Sunday between Carolino-Bukhaz and the Balm.
“All of them were killed by explosive devices while swimming in areas forbidden for rest,” said Ole Kiper regional governor.
“This proves once again that finding in unverified waters is deadly.”
Police say he has not yet confirmed the identity of the swimmers and warned the visitors “not to neglect security measures”.
“Earlier it was found that three vacationers – a woman and two men – died while swimming as a result of two explosions of unknown objects. The identity of the deceased is established,” the police said.
According to the authorities, thirty -two areas are safe for swimming, 30 of them are located in Odessa.
