Thousands in Norway said they won millions in the lottery

Norwegians estimates that they became millionaires after receiving a notice from the state gambling company, saying that they won the amounts that did not succeed, it was a mistake.

“Several thousand” people who received prizes in the Eurocaktot were reported on the wrong amounts on Friday, Norsk Tipping said. The company refused to confirm the exact number of those affected by the BBC.

She said she had received several messages from people who planned to go on vacation, repair their houses or buy an apartment.

“For them, I can only say: sorry! But I understand it’s a small consolation,” she said.

One woman, at the repair project center, said the Norwegian broadcasting corporation (NRK), which received a notice that she had received 1.2 million kroners ($ 119,000: 87,000 pounds), but instead received only the share of the amount.

The Norsko Council met with the Ministry of Culture, which manages the company’s management at an emergency meeting on Saturday.

After the meeting, Ms Sagstun left the role of the CEO. It has held this post since September 2023 and worked at Norsk Tiping since 2014.

“Everything has failed here in several places, it is my responsibility,” she said.

She said that “sad” to leave but confidently in the “improvement process” processes.

The Minister of Culture and Equality of Lubna Jafer said NRK that “such errors should not happen”, especially since Norsk Tiping has the exclusive right to provide game services in the country.

“We expect the council to actively work on improving management procedures,” she said.

This is not the first time NORSK Chiping was criticized.

The company stated that “several serious mistakes have been revealed” in recent months, and it “has undergone a number of technical problems last year.”
